the äffectations

What do you get when four veteran musicians from the Midwest get together, pool their original tunes and start a band? You get the äffectations! Four guys with four different musical journeys that crank out a mix of original rock, blues, folk and Americana music. Combined with years of professional experience, hundreds of stories to tell, eight good ears and four musical minds, you’ll find the äffectations to be a pretty-damn-good band!  That’s the äffectations - with a lowercase A and an umlaut. Say it with the “ah” sound up front. Perfect! Now you have an affectation too.

Dan Chopin – guitar and vocals
With over 25 years of touring the world as a stand-up comedian and musician, Dan’s national television appearances include Showtime’s Comedy Club Network on Showtime, Evening at the Improv (4 times) on the Arts & Entertainment Channel, Comedy Tonight on PBS and The Half-Hour Comedy Hour on MTV. After all those years on the road at comedy clubs, colleges, casinos and cruise ships, Dan now spends all his time in St. Louis hanging with his growing family, playing music with his friends and cheering, or crying, for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.

Billy Engel – lead guitar and vocals
One of St. Louis' finest slide guitarists, songwriters and studio pros, Billy’s musical career has spanned over five decades playing venues across the US and Europe. He played and toured in the Northern California area with songwriter Bonnie Hayes ("Working On A Love Letter","Have A Heart"), recording her EP Brave New Girl, and has recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Schoals and the Record Plant in San Francisco. Over the years he has been a member of local icons such as Arrow Memphis, Jake's Leg and Ticket To The Beatles.

Dävid Torretta – bass and vocals
Founding member and songwriter with the seminal St. Louis band Fairchild, David has also worked as producer, engineer and musician with Hall of Famers Chuck Berry and Johnnie Johnson and is currently producing and collaborating with legendary singer Bonnie Bramlett.
Known to be on the quiet and thoughtful side, you could say Dave speaks softly but carries a big bass.

Dennis Stringfield – drums and vocals
A St. Louis native, drummer/percussionist/vocalist and one of St. Louis’s busiest hired guns. Dennis is a touring veteran who has played with Javier Mendoza, El Monstero, The Grand Allusion and many others. Comfortable in just about any genre, he can be accenting a soft groove on the
cajon one minute and then rocking out on a full drum kit the next.

Tickets $15/$20 in advance, $25 at door.
